The end of Botswana beef exports to the European Union?

Losing current preferences is most likely to stop Botswana's only agricultural export commodity to the European Union (EU) immediately. Botswana's beef exports would be treated less favourably by the EU than those of the world's most competitive beef producers. The EU could avoid this situation if it had the political will. However, time is running out. To avoid the disruption of exports Botswana needs to know by end September 2007 what will happen in January 2008.
