The textile trade, developing countries and the Multi-Fibre Agreement
Keywords:

This paper reviews the current GATT Multi-Fibre Agreement (MFA) which entered into force on 1 January 1974 and is due to expire in December 1977.The paper considers that the MFA is likely to be renewed in broadly its present form. However, it argues that this lack of change will put pressure on the British government, given the government's negative attitude to the demands of the LDCs (Least Developed Countries) as part of their 'New International Economic Order'.
