Human Settlements and their place in development

This paper summarises the problems highlighted by the recent inter-governmenmtal Habitat Conference which took place in Vancouver. The impetus for Habitat lies in the increasingly rapid growth of human settlements, which is itself a product both of population increase and migration. The conference discussed the future of human settlements and their role in development.
