Developing country bank debt: Crisis management and beyond
Keywords:
Foreign policy, Governance, Public financeSynopsis
This paper looks at the problem of debt owed by developing country (LDC) governments (or sovereign debt) to overseas banks. This debt is the largest part of a wider LDC debt problem and is currently in a state of crisis. The paper describes how this state of crisis arose, the ways in which the immediate problems are being dealt with, and considers some of the longer term issues.
