Sanctions and the South African economy

In the context of the economic sanctions against South Africa, this Briefing Paper focuses upon the country's deteriorating economy and its development prospects. The paper argues that South Africa has no medium-term option other than to negotiate internal political reform. Until this happens, it faces further economic deterioration, in the medium term and beyond.
